Week 8- Summary (final blog post)

Over all this project was interesting, and much different from anything I did in Highschool. Being a freshman was a big change and online submission was not very common. I was more confident in my idea the first blog post and lost hope throughout the semester. I realized that applying this to all the things I learned in class was hard. Although my business was technology based, the idea was a bit vague and once I dove into all the specific aspects of it, I found myself struggling to develop my idea.
The overall theme of my web page was simplicity, it was a site marketed for elder people who do not know how to surf the internet as capably as our generation. It was going to be an "all in one" site, that will limit the number of tabs someone will need to have open to do all the necessities on the internet. I would incorporate things like mail, taxes, pictures and other things that people need to use on the web. I think the idea was good, but was a bit to broad. I would need to limit the site to only a few functions, because simplicity was the goal. I hope that eventually through the ISchool that I have the skills to make this website possible.
After reading other peoples blogs, I learned different ways to incorporate the lessons we learned in class, into my site.
Below I attached the links and comments I posted on three students blogs.

I think this is a great idea Daniel, as a high school athlete I was on "be recruited.com" and thought the site was a bit weak to be honest. I like how you brought a social media aspect into your site. I think it will be good for coaches and scouts to check out a players complete bio rather than just highlight tape. It would also be good idea for the high-schools to participate in this site and post statistics to the site that would automatically go to the players bio. Over all great idea, wish i thought of it.

I like this idea a lot but the only thing I feel you will struggle with is getting a customer base. As great of an idea this is, and as much i would enjoy this site, sadly another social media site will be hard to sustain. I think you can market it a different way, almost as a web page for music, or art. I think that will be a great way to keep it away from the "social media" trend. Also I love your idea of music being played as you open ones page. I think you can go very far with this concept.

I think this is a very cool and creative idea. The only risk is that someone will not return a game to other people. A good idea is to have a time limit and then consequential fines to people who do not return games. As long as the people agree to your terms of use, and you can charge their credit card, you will be fine. So i believe the biggest issue you will have to deal with is safety on the site. But majority of my friends would love this site. I think you can also market this at local video game stores, because that would be your perfect market.
